Emma began supervising Trainee Clinical Psychologists early in her career and since then, has always worked in roles where she has managed or supervised other mental health professionals working with adults, children and families. She is passionate about offering a space where you can reflect on yourself, your clients and your workload. Emma has had her own great (and not so great!) experiences of supervision and it is important to her that supervision is a place where you can feel safe to bring whatever is most helpful for you to be able to support your clients effectively.
Emma broadly uses a mentalization framework in that she is keen to firstly support your capacity to make sense of your own and your client’s behaviour by talking about what mental states (thoughts/feelings/beliefs/intentions) may be underlying that behaviour. We would also consider your personal and professional context alongside consideration of how often stress impacts our ability to mentalize ourselves and others.
Through working in a variety of service settings and in a number of leadership roles, Emma feels she has developed a good understanding of the variety of difficulties that supervisees bring for discussion. She has worked in child protection services, court assessment services for families, private, charity and government organisations. Through an initial contracting process, it will be important to her to understand your particular needs.
Emma is available for one-off supervision sessions through to longer term arrangements.
If you would like a brief telephone chat initially to consider if she would be a good fit, please let us know, otherwise, please send your details and we can set up a time to meet.
